Eurasian Barn Owl (tyto alba)

This owl is probably known better as the “common” barn owl, which unlike other owls does not “hoot” but produces a deafening screech.

It has a “flat” heart shaped face with dark eyes and large powerful talons. It is found in every continent of the world except Antarctica

Superb photo Jim ! I have been feeding and watching birds for the last 20 years and have seen 173 species so far, but the owls are difficult to see and I only saw 4 owls in 20 years. I hope I’ll see more of them in the future !

    • Many thanks Jocelyne. Most owls tend to be nocturnal and/or are well hidden during the day.
